I can bet you have seen quite a number of epoxy flooring with bubbles on them. Bubbles are usually observed to be the size of a pinhead or more than an inch in diameter. You can find them in groups or scaterred around the floor. “Out gasing” phenomenon is what usually causes this. The time when this occurs is when our epoxy paint starts to dry. When the air gets hotter, it will expand and this is what creates those small bubbles under the coating we just made.
Use application primer as a tool that can help to prevent bubbles. Also never apply the coating in direct rays of the sun and always use a drill of a slower speed when mixing the coating.
Use medium roller if you already decided to use one. Use gentle and slow motions when you are applying your epoxy paint. This will be helpful in preventing bubbles from being formed in epoxy coatings.
Use sandpaper and some rotary scrubber action to get rid of those bubbles on the epoxy coating you have. The first step is to roughen the area with some sandpaper. Then scrupulously clean the dust. Also use a solvent and a rag to clean the area. Apply another coating of epoxy when you are finished with this. One more type of bubbles that can appear are fisheyes. One of the reasons is the silicone that remained on the surface.
Use sandpaper of medium grit to clean this area in entirety. Take a rag that is dipped in solvent and clean the area with some pressure. After this a fresh coating may be applied.
If there are bubbles in the entire epoxy flooring area then shot blasting or sand blasting may be considered. Use sand blaster to remove the epoxy coat from the area you are working on. Afterwards clean the problem area with acid. You can isolate the entire area, in case it is rather small. Repair the area and then apply the coating again.
Moisture is also a cause of bubbles in our epoxy concrete flooring. Check this by breaking the bubble and try to figure out is there moisture inside it.
