Baby Gates

Do you have a baby? Does that baby crawl, walk, or run? Then chances are, you need a baby gate. Choosing a baby gate is as hard as choosing a good play pen. But when you register for your pending arrival, a play pen is assumed. So be the smart one, know you baby gates and find the right one now.

Baby gates serve one purpose. To keep you baby away from something, maybe away from your stairs or out of you kitchen. A good baby gate will stay still regardless of how much a toddler might bang on it. And a good baby gate won’t make you loose your mind or take two hours for you to put it up.

There several types of baby gates. The tension baby gate works buy setting the gate in a certain notch and then pressing down to provide the necessary tension to keep the gate in place. Or there is the permanent baby gate. This works like a fence gate. You secure the gate to the wall and then use a latch to close and lock it. And my least favorite, the net gate. This works buy stretching a net across the open space and then securing it on either end. It takes me back to the days of old play pens left with one side down so the baby can just crawl in and out and he chooses.

The first two choices are the best by far. Either type can be found in a variety of colors and designs at most baby stores, toys stores, and online. Just look at the space you want to protect before you go. A tension gate may be the easiest, but the security of a permanent gate may be the best option for the top of the stair because of the added security. After all, a baby gate is there to protect your most precious possession, your baby.
