Baby Toys
Have you ever noticed that there are about a billion baby toys on the market? Even if you don’t have a baby, chances are that you have had to go searching through the mass of baby toys on the market for an expecting friend or coworker. How do you choose the right one and not buy the same one everyone else got? And how do you find one that will not be too noisy, messy, or require too many batteries that your home can handle? It requires baby toy savvy, and we each have it within us.
First, be sure you have the right age group. A newborn has no real ability to play with baby toys, so your focus should be on what will make the new Mom and Dad feel good. But a two year old can have very strong opinions about what he wants and doesn’t want. Get the wrong baby toy for him, and he may tell you in no uncertain terms how much he dislikes it. And anything for a child under three should not be able to be swallowed. Choking hazards are high in the under three baby toy group, and if you shop at a well known store, you should be safe if you read the label.
Now that the baby toy safety issue has been addressed, let move on to the fun stuff.
Think about buying a baby toy with no batteries. Real fun and learning often come from the boxes and wrapping paper a baby toy comes in, not in the toy it self. Also remember that color is an important factor in baby toys. Try to remember contrast and sparkle are the best color schemes in a baby toy. And think simple, little ones don’t need near as many bells and whistles as parents think they do. And last of all, have fun. Shopping for babies should be a pleasure with all the cool things they have out there today.
